Occupational Therapist (Ref:100)

Evaluates patients within the prescribed state, federal, facility, Medicare or HMO time frames from the receipt of referral; Develops effective treatment plans and obtains approval for services from referring physician; Treats patients according to the prescribed treatment plan; Supervises occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy aides and OTR/OTA students in direct patient care and patient related activities; Communicates with supervisor and other members of the health team regarding patient progress, problems, safety and the patient’s plan of care; Participates in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings and rehabilitation conferences as directed; Participates in in service training programs for rehabilitation department and facility staff; Records evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, per policy and procedure; Records treatment charges per policy and procedure; Instructs patient’s families or nursing staff in maintenance program, safety, home exercise program and or activities of daily living adaptations as required; Secures necessary durable medical equipment and adaptive equipment for patients to facilitate independence in activities of daily living; Reports any problems with department equipment so that it is repaired, maintained and in food working order; Participates in patient discharge planning as a member of the rehabilitation team; Assumes duties as assigned by the clinical administrator or director of occupational therapy; Completes all continuing education required(no less than the legal requirements needed to maintain your license); Reports to the Director of Occupational Therapy both for administrative and patient care responsibilities; Coordinates with members of other departments, committee members and other staff within the occupational therapy and rehabilitation departments.

Minimum Experience: Two (2) years. Minimum Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Minimum Requirement: Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist in State of California. Employer requires certification in Physical Agent Modalities from California Board of Occupational Therapy. Employer will conduct Two step TB Test, Hepatitis B testing, Drug/Alcohol screening, Blood test for TDAP, MMR and Varicella, Background check including OIG, GSA, county criminal and national sex offender clearance.
